“Integrity Map” created to help check the integrity levels of public organizations of regions at a glance

ACRC created and released the ‘2017 Integrity Map of Public Organizations’

June 28, 2018

Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission

The Republic of Korea

The ‘Integrity Map of Public Organizations’ was released so that people can see the integrity levels of not only central administrative agencies, but also local public organizations at a glance.

The ACRC stated on June 28 that every year it will release the “Integrity Map of Public Organizations” that shows the result of the Integrity Assessment on public organizations in the form of map, dividing the integrity level into 5 grades with different colors.

The “Integrity Map of Public Organizations” was created by marking the map and tables with different colors according to the integrity grades so that the integrity levels of public organizations of each region, such as metropolitan & primary local governments and municipal & provincial education offices, can be compared at a glance.

※ The colors by grade are borrowed from the colors of the CPI map of Transparency International that consists of 5 grades.

The local governments (metropolitan & primary local governments) and municipal & provincial education offices are marked on the map as they can be marked as a region, while central administrative agencies and public service-related organizations are marked using tables.

If you click a region on the Integrity Map of Public Organizations released on the ACRC website, you can find out the integrity information of the local government of the region, such as the comprehensive integrity score and grade in the Integrity Assessment.

Transparency International (TI) also publishes the CPI by nation every year, marked on the world map, to show the level of corruption perception by nation.

The ACRC is planning to make the integrity map every year, reflecting the integrity levels of public organizations, and disclose it on the ACRC website. In this way, the ACRC will make public organizations realize the importance of integrity and help people, civil groups, and the concerned organizations to know the integrity levels of public organizations and pay attention to their anti-corruption policies.

In addition, the Commission will analyze the result of the Integrity Assessment in a multi-faceted way, provide information, and reinforce the promotion about the organizations that received a higher integrity level compared to the previous year and good results by assessment area, to encourage public organizations to voluntarily make efforts to increase their integrity level.

ACRC Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau said, “To raise the national integrity level, it is all the more important for public officials and the people to have continuous interest in integrity. After the last local election, people have been paying more attention to the integrity levels of public organizations. I expect that the Integrity Map of Public Organizations published from this year can settle the culture of integrity in our daily life and reinforce the anti-corruption activities of public organizations.”
