Seventeen mayors and provincial governors of the 7th local government will take the lead in making Korea a fair and cleaner nation, a nation without unfairness and improper privileges

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Pak Un Jong,) and Governors Association of Korea ( GAOK, President Pak Woon-soon, mayor of Seoul City) signed ‘Mayor and Governor Integrity Agreement’ on January 18.

The integrity agreement is aimed to firmly establish fairness and trust as social values through cooperation between central and local governments, and to build a nation of integrity by rooting out irregularities and corruption.

It clearly states the following commitments to build a nation of integrity: (a) avoiding acts preventing integrity, (b) building governance for integrity (public-private partnership), (c) establishing concrete and workable integrity policies and monitoring implementation status thereof, and (d) strictly handling resistance from corruption offenders.

ACRC Chairperson Pak Un Jong said, “building a nation of integrity requires support and engagement not only from the government, but also from all society members including civil society organizations and businesses.” She added, “we should work in unison to make Korea a nation of integrity and happiness for all.

The GAOK Chairperson Pak Won-soon said, “Mayor and Governor Integrity Agreement contains a strong integrity will of the 7th local government.” He added, “we will try our best to build a clean Korea by practicing integrity based on Me-first attitude.
